Manchester United rule out Christian Eriksen exit this month

Manchester United will not entertain any offers for Christian Eriksen this month as several clubs look to sign the 32-year-old Danish playmaker.

According to a report by Football Insider, Manchester United will unlikely listen to any offers to sell Christian Eriksen before the summer transfer window shuts down in other countries. So, the veteran Danish playmaker should remain at Old Trafford until at least the January transfer window.

Christian Eriksen and his Manchester United stint so far

Christian Eriksen has been a solid performer for Manchester United since becoming one of the first signings of the Erik ten Hag era on a free transfer in July 2022. The Dane began his spell with the Premier League heavyweights as a mainstay in the middle of the park, forging a consistent partnership with Casemiro.

However, the 32-year-old has been a bit-part player since returning from an untimely ankle injury 18 months ago. Despite being a backup option for Manchester United since the 2023/24 season began, Eriksen has made his mark, chipping in with three goals and 13 assists in 73 appearances thus far for Manchester United.

However, Christian Eriksen’s long-term future at Manchester United has been uncertain for a few months, as he has entered the final 12 months of his contract with the Premier League club. The Red Devils have been open to cashing in on the Denmark international in recent weeks.

What next?

Recent reports have linked Christian Eriksen with several well-known clubs across Europe. Ajax and Anderlecht have been keen on signing the veteran Danish playmaker, with the Belgian giants holding talks to sign him from Manchester United. However, a move has not seen the light of day yet.

Ajax considered a late move before the Dutch window closed on Monday, while Real Betis failed with a late approach for a loan deal. However, the summer transfer window is still open in other countries, including Anderlecht, with Belgian clubs having nearly two more weeks to sign players. But Eriksen is not going anywhere in the coming weeks.

With Manchester United failing to sign a long-term replacement for Scott McTominay (Ugarte is Casemiro’s successor), they cannot afford to lose Eriksen. So, the 32-year-old Dane will likely remain at Old Trafford until January, with Manchester United unwilling to entertain any bids.
