Erik ten Hag will not be sacked yet by Manchester United as pressure increases

Erik ten Hag is under pressure to secure his future at Manchester United following their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool.

According to a report from Football Insider, Erik ten Hag is not facing any immediate sack threat after Manchester United got smashed at Old Trafford by rivals Liverpool. Their new part owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is all set to back the Dutch manager but he is under immense pressure to salvage his future at the club.

The Reds Devils have had a horror start to the new season. While they did get the new Premier League season underway with a win against Fulham, United have suffered defeats in their last two outings. They lost 2-1 to Brighton before suffering a humiliation at the hands of Arne Slot’s Liverpool on Sunday.

Ten Hag has a limited time to secure his United future

The poor outing against the Reds have resulted in reports that suggest Ten Hag is under the pump and he could be handed the sack only months after avoiding it and penning a new deal at the club. The former Ajax boss will be given time until the end of November and early December to turn things around.

Despite the poor start and the fact that they are currently 14th on the points table, he is not in any danger of getting sacked during the international break. The new minority owners backed him during the summer window and they are now looking to give him enough time to work with their marquee signings Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs De Ligt, and Joshua Zirkzee to get things back on track.

After the end of last season, the United board held a season review meeting where they decided to continue with Erik ten Hag despite all the reports suggesting that they were ready to show him the exit door. Not only did they decide to back him, but the Red Devils even offered him a one-year extension which now sees his deal run until the summer of 2026.

While United are looking to back their manager, he will have to quickly turn things around if he wants to continue at Old Trafford in the long run.
