Raheem Sterling open to Manchester United move

Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling has been linked with a move away from the West London club in the last few days.

Raheem Sterling has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea, and the West London club want to part ways with him before the summer transfer window shuts down this week.

A report from the Daily Telegraph has claimed that the 29-year-old out-of-favour attacker is ready to join Manchester United, and it remains to be seen whether the two parties can get the deal done.

However, Sterling will only consider joining another club this summer if Chelsea are willing to subsidise his wages. The winger is on £300,000-a-week wages at Stamford Bridge, and joining another club might mean that he would have to take a pay cut. In that case, Chelsea will have to pay the remaining amount of his wages.

There has been talk of a potential loan move. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds. Manchester United could certainly use more quality in the wide areas, and Sterling would be a useful acquisition for them if he manages to regain his form and confidence. The Englishman is a proven performer in the Premier League and he has won multiple league titles as well. Apart from his quality as a footballer, his winning experience could prove to be invaluable as well.

Manchester United move would be ideal for Raheem Sterling

Manchester United are set to sanction the departure of Jadon Sancho this summer. Sterling could be the ideal alternative to his compatriot, with a swap deal also mooted. Antony has been quite underwhelming at Old Trafford as well. Manchester United should look to invest in a quality winger this summer.

If they can sign Sterling on loan, it would be the ideal move. They will be able to improve the attacking unit without spending a substantial amount of money. Also, the 29-year-old is well settled in in English football, and he could make an instant impact.

The England international will be hoping to play regularly at this stage of his career, and Chelsea will not be able to provide him with that opportunity. He is clearly not a key part of Enzo Maresca’s first team plans this season, and it would make sense for him to move on.
