Wolverhampton Wanderers handed boost in Aaron Ramsdale race

Aaron Ramsdale is reportedly attracted by the prospect of joining fellow Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers as he looks to end his Arsenal nightmare.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Aaron Ramsdale is the subject of interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Black Country outfit recently submitted a loan bid to sign the Arsenal outcast in the summer transfer window. The latest update has revealed that the English goalkeeper is tempted to move to Molineux.

Aaron Ramsdale and his Arsenal anguish

Aaron Ramsdale was one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League in his first two seasons at Arsenal. The Englishman did well to prove his naysayers wrong after suffering successive relegations from the top flight with Bournemouth and Sheffield United.

However, the 26-year-old became a bit-part player for the North London club in the 2023/24 season after David Raya arrived from Brentford. Ramsdale managed only 990 minutes of game time across 11 appearances in all competitions, keeping three clean sheets while conceding 12 goals.

With Raya completing a permanent move to Arsenal this summer, it is hardly surprising that the England international wants to depart from the Emirates. Meanwhile, Ramsdale does not have a shortage of suitors pursuing his signature, with Wolverhampton Wanderers among the clubs keen on signing him.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest in Aaron Ramsdale is understandable. The Black Country outfit might relegate Jose Sa to the deputy goalkeeper role, although a summer departure is also possible. So, they have been keen on signing a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window.

Ramsdale has thus emerged as a viable target, with his £120,000-a-week wages not posing any issues. Wolverhampton Wanderers recently submitted a bid to sign the 26-year-old Englishman on loan from Arsenal. While the Gunners have not responded to the proposal, a temporary exit might be on the cards for the disgruntled goalkeeper as he looks to resurrect his fortunes.

Arsenal initially wanted around £30 million to part ways with Ramsdale in the summer transfer window. However, they are now ready to accept a loan exit for the England international. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers should have the funds to afford his £120,000-a-week wages.
