Manchester United are ready to go all out for Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, but Hansi Flick is determined to block the move.
According to a report from SPORT, Hansi Flick considers Frenkie de Jong an integral part of his plans moving ahead and has no intentions of letting him leave Barcelona amidst interest from Manchester United.
The Red Devils have a long-standing interest in the Dutch midfielder. Upon the arrival of former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, Manchester United tried to reunite the duo at Old Trafford. But, they could not strike a deal with Barcelona and instead ended up signing Casemiro.
Manchester United to go all out for Frenkie de Jong
Despite suffering a major setback almost two years back, Manchester United still retain their interest in the 27-year-old who has been one of the mainstays at Barcelona. As per another report from Sport via Sport Witness, the Red Devils are ready to go all out to sign the Dutch international.
Ten Hag has not been scared of signing his former players since joining the Red Devils. He already had Lisandro Martínez, Antony, and Andre Onana in his squad and has recently added Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. Now, they seem to have reignited their interest in Frenkie de Jong, who has had a lot of success under Ten Hag just like the others.
The report suggests that the Red Devils are willing to give it their all to bring him to Old Trafford. The Dutchman is considered to be the perfect signing to complete an exceptional summer of transfers for Manchester United. They have strengthened the defence, brought in another striker and a new midfielder could check all the major boxes.
While Barcelona seem ready to sanction his departure for €60 million, it will be interesting to see if Manchester United still have the funds to go big again for Frenkie de Jong. More importantly, it will be interesting to see if they are willing to bet on someone who has had a lot of injuries of late.
Hansi Flick to block de Jong’s exit
Manchester United might be willing to not spare any efforts to sign Frenkie de Jong. But Flick’s stance is going to cause problems. The new Barcelona boss has made it quite clear to the club’s hierarchy that he wants De Jong in his team at all costs.
He considers the Dutch midfielder to be an important part of his plans as he looks to play with a double pivot in front of the backline. Flick will look to block any potential exit and on top of that, De Jong also seems keen on playing under the German manager. The duo has already held talks about his role and he is expected to be a regular starter when he returns from injury.
