Joachim Andersen has decided to stay at Crystal Palace beyond the summer transfer window amid his links with his former club, Fulham.
According to a report by Football Insider, Joachim Andersen is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on signing a centre-back before the summer transfer window shuts down. However, the 28-year-old does not want to leave Crystal Palace, thus handing a blow to the West London club’s prospects.
Joachim Andersen and his solid displays for Crystal Palace
Joachim Andersen has been one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace from Lyon in a deal worth £17 million in July 2021. The Dane already had experience in the Premier League after turning out for Fulham in the 2020/21 campaign, spending the season on loan at Craven Cottage.
The 28-year-old has turned out 112 times thus far for Crystal Palace while chipping in with three goals and six assists. Andersen has barely missed a game for the South London outfit since arriving from Lyon, with his exploits helping him rise in stature on the international stage.
Meanwhile, Joachim Andersen’s progress at Crystal Palace has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing the Danish international in the summer transfer window, with Fulham pushing the hardest to secure his services.
Can Fulham re-sign Andersen?
Fulham’s interest in Joachim Andersen is understandable. The Cottagers have already tabled a bid to sign the Denmark international, with Fulham immediately turning it down. They have already signed Jorge Cuenca from Villarreal, with the Spaniard replacing Tosin Adarabioyo at Craven Cottage.
However, with Tim Ream joining Charlotte FC, Fulham can do with another centre-back signing before the summer transfer window shuts down. Andersen thus emerged as a viable target for Fulham. However, the Danish defender has snubbed the opportunity to join the West London club, as he wants to remain at Crystal Palace.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace might soon offer a new contract to Andersen, who has entered the final 24 months of his current deal. As for Fulham, they must look elsewhere, with the 28-year-old Dane not going anywhere in the summer transfer window.
