Chelsea ready to cash in on Djordje Petrovic

Chelsea are reportedly ready to cash in on 24-year-old Serbian international Djordje Petrovic, who they signed in 2023.

According to a report from The Athletic, Chelsea are ready to cash in on 24-year-old goalkeeper  Djordje Petrovic, who has barely had any opportunities at Stamford Bridge since arriving at the club in the 2023 summer transfer window.

Chelsea have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent weeks while already signing Filip Jorgensen. Recent reports have also linked them with Mike Penders, and it is not surprising that they are prepared to sell Petrovic.

The Blues are already well-stocked in the goalkeeping department, and Petrovic is unlikely to get ample opportunities at Chelsea. Perhaps a move away from the club would be ideal for the player as well. The Blues have recently completed a deal to sign Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal. They are now looking to sell multiple players this summer to raise funds and balance the books.

The report from The Athletic claims that players like Ben Chilwell, Armando Broja, David Fofana, Cesare Casadei, Alex Matos, Harvey Vale, and Leo Castledine are all on the list of expendables. Chelsea are ready to cash in on Romelu Lukaku, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Trevoh Chalobah as well.

It seems that there could be a summer exodus at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea will hope that they can procure acceptable offers for these players. The Blues have been quite active in the transfer market since the change of ownership, and they will need to balance the books now. It is hardly a surprise that they are looking to sell multiple fringe players this summer.

Chelsea need quality players to turn things around

Chelsea have had two mediocre seasons, and they will look to bounce back strongly next term. They need to bring in quality players for that to happen. With that said, they will have to comply with the PSR regulations as well.

The West Londoners cannot afford to overspend. So, selling multiple players in order to boost their transfer budget is the only way forward. Petrovic will look to get his career back on track with regular football at another club, and he will certainly be disappointed to leave the club without making an impact since his move in 2023.
