La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have reportedly contacted the representatives of 28-year-old Bayern Munich attacker Kingsley Coman over a possible move this summer.
According to reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Kingsley Coman is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are keen on signing a wide attacker before the summer transfer window shuts down. The 28-year-old Bayern Munich forward has thus emerged as a target for the Blaugrana, with the club identifying him as an alternative to Nico Williams.
The Kingsley Coman story
Kingsley Coman has been one of the most successful footballers of all time but has struggled for fitness throughout his career. A serial winner, the Frenchman has won league titles in three countries, failing to win a top-flight trophy for the first time in his career in the 2023/24 season.
The 28-year-old has been with Bayern Munich since 2015, arriving at the Allianz Stadium on an initial loan deal before completing a permanent transfer in July 2017. Coman has turned nearly 300 times thus far for Bayern Munich while chipping in with 63 goals and 66 assists.
However, the French attacker faces an uncertain future at Bayern Munich midway through the summer transfer window after struggling with fitness issues last season. The situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. However, Kingsley Coman’s next destination might be Barcelona.
Barcelona move beckons?
Barcelona’s interest in Kingsley Coman is understandable. The Catalan giants have been keen on signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Raphinha and Ferran Torres. So, several candidates, including Nico Williams, are on Barcelona’s radar.
However, the deal for the Spanish international might not see the light of day, as he might remain at Athletic Club beyond the summer transfer window. So, Coman has emerged as a viable alternative to Williams, with Barcelona contacting the French attacker’s representatives.
