Chelsea in constant contact over Samu Omorodion move

Chelsea are in constant contact with Atletico Madrid as they look to sign their attacking sensation Samu Omorodion.

Chelsea’s priority for the ongoing transfer window was to bring in a new top-quality striker to lead their attack. While they have been linked with quite a few top forwards, Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion is also quite high on their wishlist and according to Gianluca DiMarzio, the Blues are in constant contact with Diego Simeone for the signature of the Spanish striker.

Omorodion had an impressive rise at Granada and on the back of it, he secured a move to Atletico last summer. In order to ensure he gets enough first-team action and continues his developments, they decided to send him out on loan to Alaves.

The 20-year-old had quite an impressive loan spell as he scored eight goals and bagged an assist in just over 2,000 minutes of first-team action spread across 36 matches. His impressive performances didn’t go unnoticed and while he still has four years on his deal, Chelsea are trying to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues struggled in the final third of the pitch last season. They were over-dependent on Cole Palmer and the absence of a goal-scoring forward was felt. As a result, the London club have been on the lookout for a top number nine who can lead the line in Enzo Marseca’s system.

Samu Omorodion to join Chelsea

Omorodion is seen as an ideal profile for the Italian manager’s setup and has been one of their first choices since the start. While reports suggested that Chelsea had taken a back seat in the race for his services after a failed bid, the Blues have retained their interest and they are now looking to push hard to sign him.

The London club have been in direct contact with the Spanish giants and things are moving forward based on a €50 million deal (including bonuses). The Blues are closing in on the signature of their top target. The completion of this deal will then see Conor Gallagher join Atletico in a separate operation as those talks are also progressing at a rapid pace.

Meanwhile, Simeone’s team are trying to sign Julian Alvarez from Manchester City to reinforce their attack and they want to get it done before letting Omorodion leave the club.
