West Ham United are reportedly preparing a bid to sign 23-year-old Brazilian international Yuri Alberto from Corinthians in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Brazilian outlet Bolavip, Yuri Alberto is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on signing a striker in the summer transfer window. And they are ready to submit a bid to land the Brazilian international from Corinthians in the coming weeks.
Who is Yuri Alberto?
Yuri Alberto has been one of the best young strikers in his homeland since returning from Zenit St. Petersburg. A native of Sao Jose dos Campos, the 23-year-old graduated from the youth division at Santos FC before spending a couple of years with Internacional. Zenit snapped him in January 2022, but the move did not work out as planned.
Corinthians took Alberto back to Brazil, and he took no time to rediscover his best form and find a stable footing in his career at the club level. Corinthians completed a permanent move in January 2023, and the player has enjoyed an excellent 2024 season thus far, amassing 17 goals and three assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Yuri Alberto’s exploits for Corinthians have not gone unnoticed, earning him his international debut while capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Recent reports have linked the Brazilian international with Premier League clubs, with West Ham United pushing to sign him before the summer transfer window shuts down.
London calling?
West Ham United hold a long-standing interest in Yuri Alberto and mulled over signing him in last summer’s transfer window. However, a deal did not materialise, with the player remaining at Corinthians for another 12 months before re-emerging on West Ham’s radar this year.
The Hammers have scoured the market for a striker in the summer transfer window, with Michail Antonio and Danny Ings on the wrong side of 30. In addition, the latter has been a shell of the top-class striker he was at his peak. So, several strikers, including Jhon Duran, are on West Ham’s radar.
The report by Bolavip has suggested that the Hammers are ready to launch the offensive to secure Yuri Alberto’s services in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if West Ham’s bid does the trick and takes the 23-year-old to the London Stadium.
