Ismaila Sarr is reportedly closing in on joining Crystal Palace after agreeing to sign a five-year contract, with the Eagles submitting a bid worth £12 million.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Ismaila Sarr is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles have submitted a bid worth £12 million to sign the Marseille winger, who has agreed to sign a five-year contract at the South London club. In addition, the Ligue 1 club’s manager, Roberto De Zerbi, has approved the 26-year-old attacker’s departure.
Ismaila Sarr and his latest adventure
Ismaila Sarr has blown hot and cold since returning to Ligue 1 last summer by joining Marseille from Watford last summer. Les Phoceens would have hoped for better performances by the Senegalese international, who had previous experience in Ligue 1 with Stade Rennais, where he was top-notch.
However, the 26-year-old has managed only five goals and six assists in 35 appearances across all competitions thus far for Marseille. While Sarr has been excellent for his national team, that consistency has been missing from his game at the club level in the last 12 months.
So, it is hardly surprising that the former Watford winger faces an uncertain future at Stade Velodrome, with Roberto De Zerbi giving the green light to his departure from the Ligue 1 club in the summer transfer window. Sarr will soon return to the Premier League, with Crystal Palace pushing hard to secure his services.
Premier League beckons again?
Crystal Palace’s interest in Ismaila Sarr is understandable. The Eagles have been scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window due to apprehensions about Michael Olise’s long-term future. The Frenchman has since joined Bayern Munich, leaving a gaping hole in the offensive department.
Sarr has thus emerged as a viable target for Crystal Palace, with the Senegalese international agreeing to sign a five-year contract at the South London club. Meanwhile, the Eagles have submitted a bid worth £12 million to secure Ismaila Sarr’s services.
While the report does not mention whether £12 million will be enough for Crystal Palace to land the 26-year-old, it suggests that only finer details remain for the summer move to materialise. So, it will be interesting to see if Sarr returns to the Premier League in the coming days.
