Real Madrid might rekindle the move for 23-year-old Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies in August if he has not signed a new contract.
According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA, Alphonso Davies remains the subject of interest from Real Madrid, even though the links between the two parties have gone cold in the last few weeks. However, Los Blancos might revisit the interest in the 23-year-old Bayern Munich full-back in the final month of the summer transfer window if he has not signed a new contract.
The Alphonso Davies story
Alphonso Davies has been one of the best young players in the Bundesliga since joining Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019. While the Canadian international has battled a few fitness issues and competition for places, he has made his mark in the last half a decade at the Allianz Arena.
The 23-year-old has turned out nearly 200 times thus far for Bayern Munich while chipping in with 11 goals and 23 assists. However, Davies faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena after entering the final 12 months of his contract with the Bavarian giants.
Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. However, Alphonso Davies’s next destination will likely be Real Madrid, although it is unclear if a move will materialise in this summer’s transfer window or in 2025.
Will Real Madrid sign Davies?
Real Madrid’s interest in Alphonso Davies is understandable. The reigning La Liga champions have been scouring the market for a left-back heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Fran Garcia. In addition, Ferland Mendy does not make a difference in the final third.
So, it behoves Real Madrid to invest in an attack-minded full-back, with Davies emerging as a viable target. However, Bayern Munich will look to tie the 23-year-old to a new contract, although the former treble winners are open to keeping him for another year, even if he departs from Allianz Arena as a free agent.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid might revive the move for Davies in August if he has not signed a new contract with Bayern Munich by then. It will be interesting to see if a summer move sees the light of day.
