Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race for the services of Manchester City and Newcastle United target Boris Lum.
Despite being just 16, Boris Lum has already made quite a name for himself with impressive performances for club and country at the youth level. Multiple top clubs are interested in the services of the Hertha Berlin youth player, and according to a report from HITC, Tottenham have tabled a bid for the German defensive midfielder amidst interest from rivals Manchester City and Newcastle United.
Lum joined the German club’s youth ranks back in 2016, and he has only gone from strength to strength since. He is one of the most exciting young talents coming up the ranks in Germany and Hertha Berlin seem to have accepted the fact that he will be on the move this summer given the amount of interest in him.
Newcastle United and Manchester City have both held talks with the representatives of the youngster regarding a transfer ahead of next season. City are always on the lookout for young stars who can help them in the long run, and they feel Lum has the potential to succeed Rodri as their defensive midfielder in years to come.
Tottenham front-runners in the race for Lum
Newcastle United have also focused on adding young stars to their squad following their takeover, and they do not want to miss out on the teenager, who is considered to be a star in the making. While both Newcastle United and Manchester City are keen on his signature, Tottenham have leapfrogged them in the pursuit and have already submitted an offer for Lum.
Spurs are looking to plan for the long run. They have already signed two top-quality young midfielders Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray and are now looking to add the Hertha Berlin wonderkid to the mix. While the details of the offers are not yet public, the player has already held multiple talks with Spurs officials.
The report suggests that he has also visited their training facility and has watched the team in action. Spurs are trying everything in their power to ensure they can beat the competition to his signature. Having already made an offer, Tottenham are hopeful of getting over the line in the near future.
