Inter Milan and Juventus have been offered the services of Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo amidst interest from Barcelona.
According to La Stampa via Sportmediaset, Joao Cancelo seems keen on making a return to Italy, and his agent Jorge Mendes has offered his services to his former clubs Inter Milan and Juventus. While he has returned to Manchester City following his loan spell at Barcelona, he does not have a future under Pep Guardiola, and a move away looks almost certain.
Cancelo was an integral part of Manchester City’s first team setup. But a fallout with the Spanish manager has resulted in him spending the last 18 months out on loan. He had a short spell at Bayern Munich before joining Barcelona for the 2023/24 season.
Barcelona want to sign Cancelo permanently
While the Catalan giants did not really have the best of seasons, Cancelo was one of their consistent performers as he contributed towards nine goals (four goals, five assists) in his 42 outings. The Portuguese international featured on both flanks and was a constant feature under Xavi.
He is back at his parent club, but they are unlikely to incorporate him into their first team. While Cancelo still has three years left on his deal with Manchester City, his agent Jorge Mendes is busy finding him a new club.
Barcelona are keen on adding depth to the full-back department ahead of next season, and they are interested in signing him on a permanent basis. While they have agreed personal terms with the player, striking a deal with Manchester City who are looking for €25 million will be a tough task given their financial situation.
Jorge Mendes offers Joao Cancelo to Inter Milan and Juventus
Cancelo could end up making a return to Italy. The 30-year-old was a part of the Inter Milan team during the 2017/18. He spent the following season at Juventus before joining Manchester City back in 2019. Now, he has a chance to return to Serie A as his agent has knocked on the doors of his former clubs.
Both Inter Milan and Juventus are keen on signing a new full-back, and Mendes wants to know if there is a chance of a potential reunion. Cancelo could be a great addition to both teams as he can play as a full-back as well as a wing-back on either flank.
However, the asking price set by Manchester City could make things difficult for the Italian clubs and they might look for a loan with an option to buy. While his wages are also quite high, the player is willing to lower his demands in order to play UEFA Champions League football.
