Barcelona might pursue the move to sign 20-year-old Senegalese international Lamine Camara from Ligue 2 club FC Metz this summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Lamine Camara is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants have been scouring the market for a versatile midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. The 20-year-old FC Metz star has thus emerged as a target for the Blaugrana.
Who is Lamine Camara?
Lamine Camara is one of the most underrated young midfielders in Europe. A native of Diouloulou, the Senegalese international spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the academy at Casa Sports before rising in prominence during his time at Generation Foot.
The 20-year-old moved to Europe in 2023, joining FC Metz from Generation Foot in February 2023. Since then, Camara has been a regular for the French outfit, turning out 37 times thus far while chipping in with two goals and six assists. However, he could not stop FC Metz’s relegation from Ligue 1 in the 2023/24 season.
Nevertheless, Lamine Camara’s progress at FC Metz has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including Chelsea. The latest report has revealed that the young African midfielder is a target for Barcelona. Meanwhile, FC Metz will demand around €12 million to part ways with him in the summer transfer window.
Barcelona move on the cards?
Barcelona’s interest in Lamine Camara is understandable. The Catalan giants have been scouring the market for a versatile midfielder capable of playing as a holding midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. So, several candidates, including Joshua Kimmich, have emerged on Barcelona’s radar over a possible move.
However, amid the struggles to balance the books, the Catalan giants are keeping their options open, identifying low-cost alternatives. Camara has thus emerged as a viable target, considering he will cost only €12 million in the summer transfer window. However, Barcelona must initiate the move quickly to land the 20-year-old African midfielder.
The Senegalese international is also a target for AS Monaco and Galatasaray, with both clubs at the front of the queue to land him. So, it will be interesting to see if he becomes a top target for Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
