West Ham United have put forward an offer worth over €35 million to sign Artem Dovbyk from Girona this summer.
According to a report from AS via Sport Witness, West Ham United are keen on acquiring the services of Artem Dovbyk as they look to reinforce their squad ahead of next season. The Hammers have submitted an offer of over €35 million to bring the Ukrainian international to London.
Dovbyk joined Girona last summer. He had an exceptional debut season at the Spanish club as he managed to score 24 goals and even bagged 10 assists in his 39 outings. The 27-year-old finished the season as the top scorer in La Liga. He played a big part in the high-flying club’s incredible run which saw them finish inside the top four and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Dovbyk’s sensational performances in the final third haven’t gone unnoticed, and multiple top clubs are keen on signing the Girona striker. Atletico Madrid did knock on their rival’s door for his signature, and they submitted an offer worth €25 million. But it has been turned down.
West Ham United want to sign Artem Dovbyk
Apart from the Spanish giants, West Ham United have also made a move to sign Dovbyk. The Hammers want to reinforce their attack ahead of next season. Their new manager Julen Lopetegui wants more firepower in attack as he looks to help them compete for a place in Europe.
With Michail Antonio’s future still uncertain and Danny Ings on the wrong side of 30, West Ham desperately need a new striker who can lead their line. Dovbyk could be a sensational signing for them, as he is an out-and-out number nine who could be a great fit in Lopetegui’s system.
Dovbyk wants to continue at Girona
Having already proven himself in La Liga, he might not have a big problem making the switch to England. The Hammers have already made an offer of over €35 million to sign the Girona ace. But, even that is unlikely to help their cause as the option to move to England does not seduce the player.
Dovbyk and his family are happy with their life in Spain. The player is keen on playing in the Champions League, and he can fulfil his dream by continuing at Girona. West Ham have not qualified for Europe next season, making things much more difficult for them. The player has rejected offers from the Hammers as well as other clubs as he looks set to continue in Spain.
