AC Milan establish fresh contact to sign Romelu Lukaku

AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing 31-year-old Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window.

Romelu Lukaku will leave Chelsea permanently this summer, and he impressed in Serie A with AS Roma last season. The Belgian striker scored 21 goals in all competitions during his loan spell at the Serie A club, and there is no doubt that he is good enough for AC Milan as well. Gianluca Di Marzio is now reporting that Milan have made fresh contact to sign him.

The Serie A giants need to bring in a reliable goalscorer this summer, and Lukaku could prove to be the ideal acquisition. He has proven himself in Italian football over the years. He has helped Inter Milan win the Serie A title in the past. He would certainly help AC Milan improve going forward, thus explaining their interest in him.

The striker does not have a future at Chelsea, and he needs to move on in search of regular playing time. Joining AC Milan permanently would be ideal for him. The Rossoneri are one of the biggest clubs in the country, and they could provide him with the platform to push for major trophies.

WIll Chelsea sell him for a reasonable price?

Chelsea will be hoping to get rid of Lukaku as well, and they will look to recoup some money for him. It remains to be seen whether they are ready to sell the player for a reasonable price. Milan are unlikely to pay over the odds for the Belgian striker. Even though he is a proven performer in Italian football, Milan will look through snap him up for a knockdown price this summer.

Furthermore, the striker is on massive wages at Chelsea, and he might have to accept a pay cut in order for the move to go through. Milan will likely struggle to afford his current Chelsea wages. The Belgian striker is at the peak of his powers, and he is well settled in Italian football. He could come in and make an instant impact at Milan next season and transform them in the final third.

Lukaku failed to live up to the expectations following a big money return to Chelsea a few seasons ago, and selling him permanently would be ideal for the Premier League club. There is no doubt that the transfer has been an abject failure, and the two parties need to go their separate ways now.
