Liverpool and Manchester United have reportedly met the representatives of 18-year-old LOSC Lille centre-back Leny Yoro, a target for Real Madrid.
According to a report by MARCA, as relayed by Paisley Gates, Liverpool and Manchester United have intensified their efforts to sign Leny Yoro. The two Premier League clubs recently met the entourage of the LOSC Lille prodigy. Meanwhile, the 18-year-old wonderkid is also a target for Real Madrid, with Los Blancos being his preferred club when he leaves Les Dogues.
Leny Yoro and his skyrocketing stock
Leny Yoro has enjoyed an astounding rise to stardom since breaking into the first-team squad at LOSC Lille. The Frenchman made his senior bow as a 16-year-old, illustrating his talent and potential. However, very few would have foreseen the teenage whizkid becoming a mainstay at the back for the Ligue 1 outfit before turning 20.
However, that was the case in the 2023/24 season as Yoro amassed over 3,500 minutes of game time across 44 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with three goals. Meanwhile, the 18-year-old defender’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of high-profile clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.
Where will Yoro ply his trade next season?
The latest report has revealed that Liverpool and Manchester United have touched base with Leny Yoro’s representatives over a deal in the summer transfer window. Recent reports have claimed that the two Premier League heavyweights are ready to intensify their efforts to sign the French defensive sensation.
That has seemingly happened, with Liverpool and Manchester United hoping to replace their respective outgoing veteran defenders with Leny Yoro. While the Reds are losing Joel Matip as a free agent, Raphael Varane has ended his three-year stay at Old Trafford. However, Liverpool and Manchester United are in a losing battle, as the LOSC Lille defender has his heart set on joining Real Madrid.
But the timeline of a move to Real Madrid is unclear, with Los Blancos not ready to break the bank to secure Leny Yoro’s services. With the youngster’s contract expiring in a little over 12 months, Real Madrid might delay the deal unless LOSC Lille can drive down the asking price.
That might hand Liverpool and Manchester United a window of opportunity to snare Yoro from Real Madrid’s grasp. It will be interesting to see where the 18-year-old Frenchman plies his trade in the 2024/25 season.
