Barcelona will soon hold talks with the entourage of 27-year-old Liverpool mainstay Luis Diaz over a possible move in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Luis Diaz is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants view the 27-year-old attacker as a top target for the summer transfer window. And they will soon approach the entourage of the Liverpool mainstay to discuss a possible move.
Luis Diaz and his Liverpool journey
Luis Diaz has been a mainstay in the final third for Liverpool since arriving from FC Porto in January 2022. The Colombian international did not take long to establish a foothold in the offensive department, even playing ahead of Sadio Mane on many occasions.
While the 27-year-old has blown hot and cold in the last 12 months, he remains a critical member of the first-team squad at Anfield. However, Diaz will realise that a tally of 13 goals and five assists in 51 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions in the 2023/24 season does not do justice to his potential despite the off-field distractions.
Nevertheless, Luis Diaz’s stock in the market remains high, with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window. And the latest update has revealed that the Catalan giants want to hold talks with the Liverpool attacker’s entourage over a possible move.
Barcelona interested in Diaz
Barcelona’s interest in Luis Diaz is understandable. The Catalan giants are considering cashing in on Raphinha and Ferran Torres in the summer transfer window to balance their books and fund new signings. The duo’s departure will necessitate the arrival of a new attacker ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Diaz has thus emerged as a viable target, with Hansi Flick advocating his signing in the summer transfer window. With Barcelona seeking talks with the Colombian attacker’s entourage, they are ready to launch the offensive to sign him from Liverpool.
However, convincing Liverpool to part ways with Diaz might be a tall order for Barcelona. Recent reports have claimed that the 27-year-old is happy at the Merseyside club, while the Reds do not want to cash in on him either. So, it will be interesting to see if the Catalan giants can seal the deal for their top target.
