Saudi Pro League clubs are ready to wait another year to sign Premier League stars Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne.
According to a report from The Daily Telegraph, Saudi Arabian clubs are willing to wait until 2025 to acquire the services of Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne. Both the Premier League stars have been on the wishlist of clubs in the Middle East for a while now.
While clubs would love to add the duo to their squads in the upcoming transfer window, it won’t be that simple given their importance to their respective team. As a result, Saudi Pro League clubs are ready to wait another year and sign them for free when their contracts run out.
The Saudi Pro League is already home to some of the biggest footballers in the world with Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Neymar a part of their league. Clubs from the Middle East are looking to sign more European stars as they look to expand their league.
While they will be on the lookout for opportunities to add more quality to the Saudi Pro League in the upcoming summer transfer window, signing Salah or De Bruyne ahead of next season won’t be easy. Manchester City and Liverpool would look for a significant fee and more importantly, the players might want to continue in Europe for another season.
Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne set for Saudi move?
Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad tried to sign Salah last summer. They submitted a bid worth £150 million, which was turned down by Liverpool. With his contract running out in just over a year, there has been a lot of speculation about his future.
The Egyptian international, who has been a part of the Liverpool setup for seven years, has recently hinted that he will continue at the Merseyside club for another year after the appointment of Arne Slot and the departure of Jurgen Klopp. While he looks set to continue for another season, signing a new deal looks unlikely which means he could be available for free in 12 months.
De Bruyne’s contract at Manchester City also runs out in a year, with the club fearful of losing him. While he does not look unsettled at the Etihad, the Saudi Pro League clubs are willing to lure him to the Middle East. The 32-year-old Belgian has won everything with City and he could choose the option to continue his career in Saudi Arabia in an attempt to earn lofty wages.
With the contracts of both Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne running out, clubs are looking to sign them as free agents. In eight months, the players will be free to hold talks with foreign clubs over pre-contract agreements.
