Multiple Premier League giants were keen on his signature. But Crystal Palace managed to win the race for his signature at the start of the year. The Eagles struck a deal worth up to £22 million to sign the 20-year-old midfield sensation.

Since making joining Crystal Palace, he has featured in 15 Premier League games and even has three assists to his name. Wharton hardly needed any time to adjust to life in the English top flight, and his impressive performances have once again resulted in a lot of interest.

Manchester United are all set to focus their transfer strategy on young players who can help them in the long run under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ownership. They want to add young homegrown players who have huge potential, and Wharton seems to be an ideal fit for them.

Meanwhile, Liverpool underwent an overhaul in midfield last summer, and it has done wonders for them. But, they still feel the need to sign another midfielder, and Wharton is on their radar. He will add depth and given the kind of potential he has, the 20-year-old could eventually be one of Liverpool’s mainstays.

Crystal Palace have publicly downplayed the notion that they could cash in on the former Blackburn Rovers midfielder. But given the kind of financial situation they are in, the Eagles will find it quite difficult to turn down an offer that could see them double their investment in just six months.
