Bayern Munich recently presented a bid worth €20 million to sign Ferland Mendy, with Real Madrid rebuffing the offer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Ferland Mendy is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga heavyweights recently submitted an offer worth €20 million to sign the full-back. However, Die Roten met rejection with the bid, with Real Madrid not entertaining the proposal for the 28-year-old.
Ferland Mendy and his Real Madrid journey
Ferland Mendy has been a solid defender since joining Real Madrid from Lyon in July 2019. The Frenchman has endured a few frustrating periods on the sidelines due to persistent muscle injuries. However, he has overcome those issues to become a mainstay at the back for Real Madrid this season.
Carlo Ancelotti has also done well in managing the experienced defender’s fitness by rotating him in inconsequential games. So, the 28-year-old has turned out 34 times thus far this season instead of making nearly 50 appearances. However, Mendy’s future has been the subject of intense speculation in the last few months.
Amid Real Madrid’s heavy links with Alphonso Davies, there have been concerns that Carlo Ancelotti will have a left-back conundrum in the summer transfer window. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Bayern Munich.
Summer move beckons?
Bayern Munich’s interest in Ferland Mendy is understandable. The Bavarian giants are in a spot of bother over Alphonso Davies’s long-term future amid his constant links with Real Madrid. While Raphael Guerreiro is a capable alternative, the Bavarian giants need another option to rotate with the Portuguese international.
Mendy has thus emerged as a viable target for Bayern Munich, with Die Roten submitting a bid worth €20 million to secure his services in the summer transfer window. However, the offer has fallen on deaf ears, with Real Madrid knocking back the derisory proposal.
Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that Mendy will soon extend his contract with Real Madrid until 2027. With the 28-year-old defensive mainstay committed to Los Blancos, a new contract might be on the cards instead of a move to Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
