Wolves are interested in signing the 25-year-old Arsenal shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale to replace Jose Sa in goal.
According to a report by The Sun, Wolves are looking to push for the services of Aaron Ramsdale. The 25-year-old Arsenal short-stopper is not happy with his role at the club and he could be on the move in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Ramsdale is no longer the Arsenal No1
Ramsdale was the undisputed number-one at Arsenal until the end of the season. While he has done a great job for the club since joining them in 2021 for £30 million from Sheffield United, the English international has gone down the pecking order this season.
The arrival of David Raya on loan from Brentford has had a huge impact on the 25-year-old’s game time. Raya has taken over as the number one and Ramsdale has only featured in 11 matches throughout the ongoing season.
The former Sheffield shot-stopper is not happy with his situation at the club and he has been considering his future for a while now. Raya’s loan deal has a buy option which is expected to be triggered in the summer. As a result, Ramsdale is unlikely to be their number one anytime soon.
The 25-year-old will push for a move away and Arsenal are unlikely to stand in his way. The Gunners will let him leave if the right offer arrives. Wolves are one of the teams that are interested in acquiring his services.
Wolves looking at Ramsdale as Jose Sa’s replacement
Jose Sa’s future at Wolves is uncertain amidst interest in his services from the Middle East. They could look to sanction the departure of Jose Sa to raise funds and land the Arsenal shot-stopper at their club in the summer.
There are chances that the 31-year-old Portuguese shot-stopper will end up joining a Saudi club in the summer because of agent Jorge Mendes’s relationship with the transfer power brokers from that part of the world.
If Wolves do sanction the sale of their number one, they will look to raise a significant amount in order to find a suitable replacement. Ramsdale is at the top of their wishlist as they feel he could be an ideal replacement for Sa.
The Arsenal shot-stopper is just 25, so he could be a great signing for the short as well as the long term. But, there will be interest in his services from other parties as well. As a result, it won’t be easy for Wolves to sign him.
