Dani Olmo entourage meet Barcelona sporting director Deco

Barcelona sporting director Deco recently met with the agent of Dani Olmo and the Spaniard’s father to discuss a possible summer move.

According to reputed Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Dani Olmo is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Spanish playmaker’s father and agent were recently in Barcelona to meet the club’s sporting director, Deco. And a move in the summer transfer window might be on the cards.

Dani Olmo and his journey so far

Dani Olmo has gone from strength to strength since joining RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020. A regular for his club and country, the Spaniard is a mainstay in the final third for RB Leipzig and La Roja. Meanwhile, his market value has zoomed from €35 million to €50 million in the last four years.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed an excellent 2023/24 campaign despite a few fitness issues. Olmo has contributed to 13 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net eight times while providing five assists. However, the player’s long-term future at RB Leipzig is uncertain due to a release clause in his contract.

Clubs can secure Olmo’s services by shelling out €60 million, a fair value for his age profile and the quality he brings to the table. So, it is hardly surprising that the RB Leipzig playmaker is the subject of interest from several high-profile clubs across Europe. He is also a target for former club Barcelona.

Barcelona return on the horizon?

Dani Olmo was previously a trainee in Barcelona’s fabled La Masia division. However, he ended his youth career at Dinamo Zagreb, although his progress has alerted the Blaugrana. So, the reigning La Liga champions hold a long-standing interest in the Spanish international, having attempted to sign him in recent summer transfer windows.

The latest update has suggested that talks between Barcelona and Olmo might be underway. The RB Leipzig attacker’s father and agent recently met Barcelona sporting director Deco. While it is unclear what happened at the meeting, a summer move might be on the cards.

However, Barcelona might not have the means to afford a deal worth €60 million to secure Dani Olmo’s services. With competition for his signature being high, it will be interesting to see if the Blaugrana can conjure a clever way to land him.
