West Ham United keen on Zeno Debast

West Ham United are keen on Anderlecht defender Zeno Debast, dubbed the next ‘Vincent Kompany’, with Sporting CP also intersted.

According to O Jogo via Sport Witness, West Ham United are considering a move for Zeno Debast, the Anderlecht defender, ahead of the summer. The 20-year-old defender has been dubbed the ‘next Vincent Kompany’, with West Ham facing Sporting CP competition.

West Ham eye Zeno Debast swoop

West Ham United are in the market for a new defender, and the media has suggested some prominent names as targets. The Hammers lack the ability to take them to the finish line this season, something the club wants to address in the summer window.

Some names, like Nayef Aguerd, may depart, while Angelo Ogbonna could also walk through the exit door. Hence, irrespective of whether David Moyes stays or goes, the club will have to address the issues at centre-back and bring in new, promising players to replace those leaving.

They have set sights on Anderlecht’s Zeno Debast as a potential target, with the 20-year-old defender in his spell at the club. He’s already dubbed the ‘next Vincent Kompany’ for his style of play, but he probably needs more pace than the Manchester City legend.

The 20-year-old defender has a promising future, and a move to West Ham may be possible if the right offer is made. However, the Hammers could face tough competition for the Belgian defender, with Sporting CP in the hunt for the Anderlecht star.

Sporting CP chasing Debast.

Sporting CP are facing a pivotal summer in the context of their squad and manager. The Portuguese side could see their head coach leave for Liverpool or any other big club, while they might lose one or both of Ousmane Diomande and Goncalo Inacio, with the dup attracting plenty of interest.

Hence, they view Debast as someone who could replace one of those, and based on his profile, he seems like a good fit in place of Diomande. Sporting might offer him a good role on the side, which could aid his development, whereas, at West Ham, he might have to challenge some of the senior pros for a place in the lineup.
