Liverpool mull over offering new contract to Luis Diaz amid PSG links

Liverpool are strongly considering renewing the deal of Luis Diaz in the summer to ward off suitors who are beginning to chase the attacker.

According to Pipe Siera, Liverpool are considering a new contract for Luis Diaz amid heavy interest from elsewhere, including PSG. The Colombian attacker seems happy at Anfield but reportedly wants a new deal that reflects his importance in this squad, especially should the team lose some of their current stars in the summer.

Liverpool mulling over new Luis Diaz contract

Liverpool are in a position of comfort in the Luis Diaz situation, as there are plenty of rumours linking the winger away from the club. The Colombian winger still has three years to run on his current deal, which has put the Merseysiders in a strong position. But they do not want to take any chances.

A recent story indicated that Diaz had demanded a new contract to align with his stature rise within the club’s ranks. He wishes to become one of their leading men in the coming seasons and believes his performances in the current campaigns certainly warrant a massively improved contract.

Whether Liverpool are open to making him a top-paid star remains the question, although they are worried about interest coming from elsewhere. While Diaz seems committed to the club, Liverpool are now mulling over a new deal for the Colombian to ward off any suitor planning to chase the attacker.

Liverpool might consider this idea for a while and open talks with the 27-year-old PSG target in the summer. The Parisians are keen on recruiting the attacker amid their need to replace Kylian Mbappe, and the two attackers are known to play in the same position.

Who are interested in Luis Diaz?

Recently, his father made comments suggesting it would be the player’s dream to play for one of the two La Liga giants, Real Madrid or Barcelona. Liverpool have already told the Catalans the player is not for sale and might say the same to other suitors.

Among them all, PSG are a great threat to Liverpool’s hopes of keeping the attacker, as they have an open space to accommodate him. However, the Merseysiders will do all they can to keep hold of the 27-year-old PSG target, especially if they lose Saudi Pro League target Mohamed Salah in the summer.
