Manchester United face defeat in pursuit of Julian Nagelsmann, Gareth Southgate

Manchester United have been linked with managers like Julian Nagelsmann and Gareth Southgate as they look to replace Erik ten Hag.

A report from iNews has claimed that Julian Nagelsmann and Gareth Southgate are not keen on joining Manchester United. The former wants to continue with the German national team beyond the European Championships. Southgate might not join the Red Devils either.

Nagelsmann has only just started his role with Die Mannschaft, and he does not wish to quit just yet. On the other hand, Gareth Southgate has done a reasonable job with the England national team so far, and he does not wish to take over at Manchester United, especially with the club in a mess.

The Red Devils are going through a rebuild, and taking over an unstable project right now is not an appealing option for Southgate. Therefore, Manchester United might continue with Erik ten Hag beyond this season. The Dutch manager did an exceptional job at Manchester United last season, and he was expected to push for trophies this year.

However, things have not gone according to plan, and they are set to miss out on a top four finish. The Red Devils are still very much in with a chance of winning a trophy after reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup. They managed to beat bitter rivals Liverpool on their way to the next stage.

Erik ten Hag handed another chance

It will be interesting to see if Erik ten Hag can guide Manchester United to a trophy this season as it will certainly relieve some pressure. The Dutch manager has previously shown his quality at Ajax, and there is no doubt that he can be a quality option for Manchester United in the long term. However, he has failed to get the best out of his new signings and he needs to do better.

Manchester United have backed the Dutchman significantly in the transfer market, and they have spent millions of pounds on players like Antony who have failed to deliver. Erik ten Hag probably needs more support from the club hierarchy, and he needs to focus on coaching and leave the other responsibilities to more qualified individuals.

Manchester United are expected to bring in a transfer expert, and they are linked with Dan Ashworth. Perhaps his arrival will help Manchester United sign better players and allow Ten Hag to rebuild the side quickly.

Manchester United and one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they are expected to perform at a higher level. It remains to be seen whether the Dutchman can make the most of another opportunity and get them firing once again.
