Chelsea are ready to offer their skipper Reece James in their pursuit of 24-year-old Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni.
According to a report by DefensaCentral, Chelsea are interested in having Aurelien Tchouameni in their ranks. The Blues want to reinforce their squad in the summer and feel the 24-year-old could be a great signing for them. They are willing to offer Reece James as a part of the deal to land the French international at the club.
After making a name for himself quite early in his career, Tchouameni joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 from AS Monaco and he hasn’t looked back since. The 24-year-old has established himself in the first-team of the Spanish giants and he is expected to be around for years to come.
The defensive midfielder’s contract with the Spanish club runs until the summer of 2028 and given his importance in the team, it won’t be a surprise if he ends up staying at the club beyond his current deal.
In the ongoing season, the French international has featured in 32 matches. Quite a few of his appearances have come in the heart of the defence because of Real Madrid’s injury crisis. Despite playing in an unfamiliar position, the 24-year-old has impressed one and all.
Chelsea keen on Aurelien Tchouameni’s signatures
While Madrid do not have any intentions of negotiating his departure, Chelsea are keen on acquiring his services. The Blues want to bolster their midfield by signing the 24-year-old defensive midfielder who is amongst the best in his position.
They have already spent a fortune on signing Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo to reinforce their midfield and are now keen on the French international’s signatures. But, they are restricted because of Financial Fair Play regulations, as a result, they have thought of an exchange deal which will see their skipper Reece James join the team in white.
While James is regarded as one of the best right-backs in the world, the Blues are willing to sacrifice him in order to sign Tchouameni. However, the report states even that won’t be enough as Los Blancos have no intentions of signing a right-back in the summer.
Lucas Vazquez is expected to extend his stay until 2025 and Dani Carvajal is still in great shape. So, they will continue with the duo. Moreover, James is injury-prone and they do not have him in their plans. On top of that, selling Tchouameni is not an option as he remains integral to their future plans.
