Chelsea and Arsenal ready to pay €90 million for Victor Osimhen

Chelsea and Arsenal are both willing to fork out €90 million for the services of the 25-year-old Napoli ace Victor Osimhen.

According to a report by IL MATTINO, Chelsea and Arsenal are both keen on bolstering their attack by signing a world-class striker ahead of next season. Both English giants have been linked with Victor Osimhen for a while now and they are willing to fork out a significant fee to have the Napoli star in their ranks.

Osimhen’s rise & his desire for a move elsewhere

Osimhen has gone from strength to strength since joining the Naples-based club in the summer of 2020. Over the past two seasons, he seems to have taken his game to the next level. Last season, he helped them win the league title with 26 goals and five assists in his 32 league outings.

He has carried on in a similar fashion with 17 goal contributions this term. His impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed and multiple top clubs are willing to battle for his signatures.

While he did pen down a new deal towards the end of last year, his new contract was a way for Napoli to secure their investment by adding a release clause in the region of €120-130 million. But, since his new deal only runs until the summer of 2026, there is a real possibility of a move away from the club.

According to the report, the payer wants a change of scenery. He wants to try himself out in a different league and could ask to part ways in the summer. He was interested in a move away from the club last summer as well but his agent Calenda failed to bring the right offer.

Arsenal and Chelsea to battle for Osimhen’s signatures

As a result, various intermediaries are in action to help the 25-year-old find his new club. Arsenal and Chelsea are two English giants keen on his signatures. Mikel Arteta wants a new number nine as he is not happy with the output of his strikers.

Osimhen is one of the names on their radar as they feel he could help them take the next step. Meanwhile, Chelsea struggled to score goals at the start of the 2023/24 season. The Blues want to add a world-class forward to ensure similar situations can be avoided.

They feel the arrival of the Nigerian superstar could help revive the club. Both the clubs are keen on his signatures and are willing to offer around €90 million. Neither of them are interested in triggering his release and with the player keen on a move, they could negotiate with Napoli. According to the report, the player is looking for wages of around €12 million per season.
