Simone Inzaghi uninterested in joining Liverpool, set for Inter Milan stay

Liverpool have been dealt a severe blow in their pursuit of Simone Inzaghi, with the Italian seemingly happy to continue at Inter Milan.

According to Fichajes, Simone Inzaghi has no intention to leave Inter Milan and wants to build a super team at the San Siro. The 47-year-old manager has had a stellar season with the Nerazzuri and wants to continue here, which has come as a severe blow for Liverpool, who had him on their managerial shortlist.

Simone Inzaghi keen on Inter Milan stay

Simone Inzaghi has had a tremendous time at Inter Milan, and his plans are coming to fruition this season. The Nerrazzuri are 15 points ahead of second-place Juventus in the Serie A standings, as they are now favourites to lift the title, and they are also progressing well in the Champions League.

Inzaghi’s attractive style has already alerted many Premier League clubs ahead of the summer, although the 47-year-old manager is seemingly happy at Inter Milan. He wishes to continue building his project with the club and already has plans in place for the future.

The 47-year-old manager has a contract until 2025, as Inter Milan might offer him a new contract after the season concludes. Liverpool will see this decision as a bitter blow in their attempts to lure Inzaghi to Anfield, as they are vigorously looking for a Jurgen Klopp replacement with top target Xabi Alonso, who is potentially unavailable.

Who are Liverpool’s managerial targets?

Alonso might have been perfect for how he has coached the Bayer Leverkusen side this season. The Spaniard could win the Bundesliga with Leverkusen this season and already has plenty of suitors to choose from before the summer.

As for the Liverpool role, the club are keen, but Alonso might snub them either for Bayern Munich or to stay at Leverkusen in anticipation of the Real Madrid job. Ange Postecoglou also feels content at Tottenham, and the Inzaghi decision will make Liverpool chief re-think their managerial targets.

Liverpool are considering Ruben Amorim and Julian Nagelsmann as potential alternatives, but the whole managerial search will take time and has plenty of complications attached. For now, Liverpool might wait patiently before narrowing down on their preferred target, with more names likely to emerge in the coming period.
