Micah Richards urges Liverpool not to sell Mohamed Salah

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

Mohamed Salah was a target for Saudi Arabian clubs in the summer transfer window, and they are likely to return for him in the summer. The 31-year-old will enter the final year of his contract in the summer, and Liverpool could be under pressure to sell him if he does not renew his deal.

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has now opined on what the Reds should do. Richards believes that Salah is too valuable to be considered as a sellable asset, and Liverpool should look to sort out his future.

Richards said (h/t TEAMtalk), “How good is Mo Salah, though? He comes back from AFCON, he is injured, he does his hamstring, he gets a goal and an assist. He comes off the bench, he gets a goal and an assist like it is nothing.”

“Players would dream to do that, he is just such a special player, you know. I mean, there were talks of maybe, is it the right time to flog him in the summer, but I just think he is so valuable to Liverpool.”

The 31-year-old is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world, and he is an indispensable asset for the club. Losing him would be a massive blow for Liverpool, and they will struggle to replace a player of his quality.

Salah is more than just a goalscorer. His ability to create goalscoring opportunities and influence the game all by himself in the final third makes him an invaluable option. Liverpool might need to sign multiple players to fill the void left by him.

Salah has been extremely fit throughout his time at Liverpool and despite his age, he should be able to operate at a high level for a number of seasons. It would be ideal for Liverpool to agree on a contract extension with the player soon. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

Klopp exit will play a key role in his decision

Liverpool will be hoping to win major trophies in the coming seasons, and keeping their best players at the club should be a top priority. In addition, they will be without Jurgen Klopp next season and they cannot afford to weaken the squad as well. Losing the German manager is a major blow as it is.

It will be interesting to see if Salah is prepared to continue in the Premier League and sign a new deal with Liverpool at the end of the season. The departure of Klopp could certainly play a major role in his decision. The 31-year-old will probably wait to find out what direction the club is heading in before deciding on his future.
