Manchester United, Chelsea send scouts to watch Leny Yoro

Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with a move for the Lille defender Leny Yoro.

The 18-year-old is one of the most talented young defenders around Europe right now and he has been linked with the two Premier League clubs. A report from HITC claims that the two clubs sent scouts to watch the player in action on Saturday.

Lille were in action against French outfit Le Havre and they picked up a 3-0 win. The Manchester United and Chelsea scouts will have been impressed with what they saw. Yoro helped his team keep a clean sheet.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United and Chelsea decide to make a move for the defender at the end of the season. The 18-year-old has all the tools to develop into a world-class central defender and a move to the Premier League could accelerate his development.

Manchester United and Chelsea are among the biggest clubs in the world. The opportunity to join them can be quite tempting for any player. The 18-year-old will look to compete at the highest level and he is likely to be attracted if there is a concrete proposal on the table from the two English clubs.

Yoro would be solid future investment

Manchester United will have to find a quality replacement for Jonny Evans. The likes of Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford as well. It is evident that Manchester United need to improve their defensive unit. Yoro would be a solid long term investment for them.

Similarly, Chelsea will have to start planning for a future without Thiago Silva. The Brazilian international is in the twilight stages of his career and Chelsea need a younger alternative. Yoro would be a superb acquisition for the Blues. Chelsea already have talented French defenders like Axel Disasi and Wesley Fofana at their disposal. The opportunity to join up with his compatriots could be an attractive one for Yoro.

Both teams need to improve defensively in order to win major trophies at the 18 year-old would be the ideal signing for them.
