Manchester United handed boost in their pursuit of Antonio Silva

Manchester United have received a major boost in their pursuit of 20-year-old Benfica defensive sensation Antonio Silva.

According to Record via SportWitness, Manchester United are keen on reinforcing their team ahead of next season and they have their eyes on Benfica’s Antonio Silva. The 20-year-old Portuguese international is a huge prospect for the future and the Red Devils seem to have received a huge boost in their pursuit of his services.

Silva’s impressive rise at Benfica

Silva came up the Benfica ranks at some pace, he made it to their first team back in the summer of 2022. He has not only established himself in the first team of the Portuguese club, but his impressive performances have also helped him earn his spot in the Portugal national team.

The 20-year-old is considered to be a huge prospect for the future, he has the potential to be a special player and that is why clubs from across Europe are keen on his signatures. Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in the defensive sensation.

Manchester United’s desire to sign Benfica duo

The Red Devils want to add more depth to their defence. They have suffered in the ongoing season because of multiple injuries to key defenders and they want to address the issue by signing a young centre-back. United want to sign two centre-backs and Silva is one of their targets.

But, the 20-year-old Portuguese international is not the only Benfica player the Red Devils have their eyes on. They are keen on having midfielder Joao Neves in their ranks as well. The 19-year-old defensive midfielder is another star in the making and they are willing to make a move for him.

According to the report, Benfica won’t part ways with both their stars. Cashing in on one of them in the summer will be enough to their accounts balanced for another year. It seems the Portuguese club have already made a decision regarding Silva’s future and it seems they are ready to let him leave.

But, with more than three years left on his deal, Benfica are the ones in the driving seat when it comes to negotiations. While there is no clarity over what the asking price will be, the player is protected by €100 million release clause and the Eagles will surely try to in something close to that.
