Arsenal mull over selling Kai Havertz this summer

Arsenal might look to cash in on Kai Havertz in the summer transfer window, with the German utility man struggling to impose himself.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Kai Havertz is struggling to make his mark for Arsenal. The North London club shelled out €75 million to sign the German utility man ahead of the 2023/24 season. But they might have to cut their losses on Chelsea attacker in the summer transfer window.

Kai Havertz at Arsenal: A Story of Struggles and Frustrations

Many raised their eyebrows when Arsenal signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea last summer. The 24-year-old had failed to stamp his authority after arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in a whopping deal worth around €80 million. But that did not stop Arsenal from breaking the bank and paying €75 million to secure his services.

But the German international has not stopped struggling, blowing hot and cold throughout the 2023/24 season. Mikel Arteta has utilised him in several positions, making him a utility man for Arsenal. But Havertz’s tally of five goals and one assist in 33 appearances across all competitions leaves a lot to be desired.

However, that is not out of the ordinary, with Kai Havertz failing to be productive in any of his seasons in England thus far. That has led many to claim that the former Chelsea attacker is a disaster in waiting, although others have advocated patience with him due to his potential.

Something Has to Give

Nonetheless, Arsenal’s investment of €75 million has not reaped the desired dividends, with Havertz struggling to make his mark. With reports claiming the German utility man is their top earner, the Gunners have arguably ended up with a poor deal.

So, it is hardly surprising that the report claims that the North London giants are considering cutting their losses in the summer transfer window. While Fichajes has not suggested an asking price, it mentions that Arsenal cannot hope to recoup the entire €75 million they paid to sign him from Chelsea.

A significant loss is on the cards if Kai Havertz leaves Arsenal in the summer transfer window. But any sale will depend on the existence of prospective suitors, without which Arsenal cannot hope to part ways with the 24-year-old utility man.
