Ben Jacobs insists Michael Olise might be open to joining Manchester United, as the new hierarchy at Old Trafford could make a move.
According to Ben Jacobs on Give Me Sport, Michael Olise might be open to a switch to Manchester United should the club make an offer. The new Old Trafford hierarchy has yet to decide on some old targets, although there’s a feeling they might approve of the Crystal Palace winger.
Michael Olise prefers Manchester United?
Michael Olise has had an injury-hampered season so far, but the winger has made a difference whenever he has come on the pitch. Crystal Palace will likely miss him in the coming period due to a recent hamstring injury.
In the summer, Chelsea triggered his £35 million release clause, but Olise rejected a move and chose to sign a new deal instead. As per widespread reports, his latest contract also consists of a release clause, which could be worth around £60 million.
Manchester United have been keen on Olise, and there were reports of the club willing to compete with rivals for his signature. Ben Jacobs insists the 22-year-old Premier League attacker might prefer a move to Old Trafford, although he also laid out his conditions for any deal to materialise.
There have been reports that Olise might prefer a switch to Manchester United, although the Journalist insists things will depend on INEOS’ decision on the winger. He suggested the new hierarchy might approve some old transfer targets, including Olise, as they study the winger’s deal.
Jacobs said, “Even though Olise signed a new contract in the aftermath of Chelsea failing to trigger his complicated release clause, there is absolutely no doubt that he is a potential 2024 departure. “Manchester United’s old regime, before INEOS, really like Olise and he is tempted by the prospect of a move to Old Trafford as well.
“All indications are that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS will endorse that move because, as part of their due diligence when coming into the football club, they were aware of any historical transfer plans that were for January – even though nothing materialised – and also any window planning for the summer.
“There is continuity between Manchester United’s current recruitment team and anything INEOS do. They like a profile like Olise, so he can be termed a concrete target ahead of the summer.”
Olise in high demand
Manchester United and Manchester City could battle it out for Olise, with Pep Guardiola also a big admirer of the winger. The Catalan boss reportedly views the 22-year-old Premier League attacker as a long-term replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who left last summer.
Tottenham are also keen, while others like Liverpool keep consistent tabs. Former suitors Chelsea might also make another approach, although Olise reportedly would prefer a move to Old Trafford over others as things stand.
