Liverpool have not approached the agent of Ruben Amorim over a potential move in the summer to replace Jurgen Klopp.
According to Record via Sport Witness, Liverpool have not made any approaches to appoint Ruben Amorim as Jurgen Kloppp’s successor. The 39-year-old Portuguese manager could be in the frame for the job should he depart Sporting CP, but so far, no contacts have been made in that regard.
Liverpool will have to make a bold statement with their next managerial appointment after Jurgen Klopp decided to quit the club after the current season. For any new man to come in, they must fill in the massive shoes of the German boss, as the club will look to appoint a strong enough name at the helm.
Ruben Amorim was considered a target by the media, alongside many other big names, including Ange Postecoglou of Tottenham. However, all those links emerged immediately after Klopp’s announcement was made public, which could cast doubts over their authenticity.
Amorim could be a target for Liverpool, with reports from Portugal insisting he could leave Sporting CP if they fail to win any titles this season. The 39-year-old Portuguese manager has seen links to the Premier League before, especially after his connections with the Tottenham job last summer before they appointed Postecoglou.
The report states that the links to Liverpool are not accurate, as the club have not made any approaches towards Amorim’s agent as things stand. While that only dismisses the current links with the Merseyside job, it does not rule out a future possibility.
Ruben Amorim is already considered one of the brightest tacticians around and could well become an option for Liverpool for his high-octane style of football. However, for now, the 39-year-old Portuguese manager appears to want to focus on his efforts with Sporting CP and rubbish all speculation about his future.
Liverpool are eager for a high-profile replacement for Klopp, and there will be a few managers in the mix for that. The Reds are reportedly prioritising Xabi Alonso as their primary target as per multiple reports, with suggestions that the former midfielder might have a clause that allows him to take over at former clubs.
