Juventus defender Gleison Bremer has reportedly been linked with a move away from the Italian club in recent months.
Gleison Bremer has now revealed in an interview with DAZN that he draws inspiration from Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and Chelsea defender Thiago Silva.
He said, “Van Dijk is two steps above me, he also won the Champions League. I am also inspired by Chiellini and Thiago Silva.”
The Brazilian international has been linked with Manchester United in recent months, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up in the summer. Bremer has proven himself to be a reliable defender in Serie A, and he is certainly good enough for the Premier League. He could improve Manchester United defensively and help them tighten up at the back.
Raphael Varane has been linked with a move away from Manchester United. So, the Red Devils will have to bring in a quality replacement. The Brazilian defender certainly fits the profile, and it remains to be seen whether Juventus are prepared to sanction is departure.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old choosing van Dijk and Silva as his inspirations is hardly a surprise. Both players are exceptional defenders, and they have won major trophies throughout their career. Bremer would do well to emulate their careers and perform at their level in the coming seasons. There is no doubt that the 26-year-old has the attributes to develop into one of the best defenders in the league.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually. The 26-year-old has the ability to improve every team in the Premier League, and Manchester United are unlikely to be the only club interested in him, if he is made available at the end of the season.
But Manchester United must look to ensure Champions League qualification at the end of the season to attract top class players like Bremer. The Brazilian might not be keen on a move to a club without Champions League football next season. The Italian club will not want to lose a key player like him, and they are likely to demand a premium as well.
