Arsenal and Chelsea are few sides set to miss out on exciting 19-year-old Brazilian Pedro Felipe, who is close to joining Juventus.
According to HITC, Arsenal and Chelsea have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Pedro Felipe, with the 19-year-old Brazilian set to join Juventus shortly. The Palmeiras star was on the radars of the London giants, who have been eyeing up a young centre-back.
Arsenal and Chelsea suffer Pedro Felipe blow
Many clubs were vying for Pedro Felipe after the 19-year-old Brazilian was impressed with his decent performances for Palmeiras. The young central defender is not a household name at the club, considering he arrived from Vitoria in 2022.
However, it appears like Palmeiras are open to selling him and may have agreed on a deal with Jjveutns. The Binconeri are reportedly taking him on a loan deal with the option to redeem the move for 2 million later in the summer.
Hence, while Arsenal and Chelsea have chased the 19-year-old Brazilian for some time, they will have suffered a blow in their pursuit. The young defender is not cut out for first-team football, at least at European clubs, meaning he will spend significant time with the U-21 clubs, now at Juventus.
Arsenal and Chelsea might have wanted him for the same reason, as his meagre price tag might have appealed their pockets in this window. However, one has to keep an eye on his development in Turin, as he could be a bargain signing for the future.
Arsenal, Chelsea eyeing a young defender?
Since the January window opened, numerous links have been connected to Arsenal and Chelsea eyeing a young defender. The Blues have scouted Leny Yoro, the Lille teenager, as they view him as a long-term successor to veteran Thiago Silva.
The Blues are in the hunt for Yoro alongside many other top clubs, including Manchester United and Liverpool, meaning the young centre-back will likely be available next summer. Similarly, Arsenal have been linked with Ajax teenager Jarrel Hato, with his contractual situation alerting the Gunners of his potential availability.
Either way, in the chase for Pedro Felipe, Arsenal and Chelsea might have sensed an excellent opportunity to sign the 19-year-old Brazilian. However, he will now pursue a career in Italy with Juventus, as a future move to the Premier League is still possible.
