West Ham United have agreed personal terms with 24-year-old Al-Ittihad forward Jota ahead of a potential transfer.
According to Santi Aouna, Jota’s future has been the talk of the town ever since he joined the Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad. While multiple clubs from across the globe are interested in the 24-year-old winger, it seems West Ham United could be his next destination.
Jota proved himself in the Scottish top flight with Celtic. The Portuguese winger won numerous trophies in his short stint at the club. He had an exceptional season last time out and it resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.
While clubs in Europe were keen on signing him, the 24-year-old decided to instead join the football revolution in the Middle East. Al-Ittihad wanted to add him to their ranks and they ended up forking out a decent sum to sign him.
But, the move hasn’t turned out as planned. The player has failed to adjust to life in Saudi Arabia and he has only had limited first-team minutes so far because they left him out of their league squad. Jota is frustrated and seeks a return to Europe.
He has been linked with numerous clubs from across Europe. While Al-Ittihad’s stance on the future of the Portuguese is not that clear, it seems they are ready to negotiate his departure. West Ham United are one of the clubs linked with the 24-year-old and they seem to be closing in on his signatures.
The Hammers have already added Kalvin Phillips to their ranks and are now looking to reinforce their attack by signing Jota. They were in talks with the player’s representatives and they have agreed personal terms with them. While the player has agreed to the move as he is keen on a return, the clubs are yet to reach an agreement.
But, according to Aouna, talks between both clubs have been progressing well. There is a feeling that there could be a full agreement between both parties in the near future. Meanwhile, Jota awaits the green light from the Saudi club to travel to England for his medical.
