Fulham will reportedly look to beat Crystal Palace and other Premier League clubs for 30-year-old Krasnodar striker Jhon Cordoba.
According to a report by Evening Standard, Jhon Cordoba is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are in the market for a striker after failing to fill the void of Aleksandar Mitrovic. And they are looking to beat Crystal Palace and other Premier League clubs to the 30-year-old Krasnodar striker.
The Jhon Cordoba Story
Jhon Cordoba has represented clubs in five countries since turning professional. The Colombian international broke into the first-team picture in his homeland before moving to Mexico. His stock rose after arriving in Europe, although he has been a journeyman in the last decade.
The 30-year-old has represented clubs in Spain, Germany, and Russia, joining Krasnodar from Hertha BSC in July 2021. He is enjoying an excellent 2023/24 season, contributing to 15 goals in 20 appearances thus far. Cordoba has found the back of the net 11 times while providing four assists.
The experienced striker’s progress at FK Krasnodar has not gone unnoticed, with Premier League clubs setting their sights on him. Reports last week linked him with Crystal Palace. Other English top-flight outfits are also keen, with Fulham joining the race to sign him. And the Cottagers are looking to beat the competition to his signature.
London Calling?
Crystal Palace’s interest in Cordoba is understandable, considering the inconsistencies of Odsonne Edouard and Jean-Philippe Mateta. The two strikers have failed to deliver the goods in the final third, compelling Crystal Palace to scour the market for a striker. Jhon Cordoba has thus emerged as a viable target.
As for Fulham, the West London club lost Aleksandar Mitrovic in the summer transfer window. The Serb has left a gaping hole in the offensive unit at Craven Cottage, with Raul Jimenez not being consistent. So, it is hardly surprising that the Cottagers want to sign a striker, with Armando Broja recently emerging as a target.
Jhon Cordoba is also an option worth considering, with Fulham looking to steal a march on Crystal Palace and others. It will be interesting to see if the 30-year-old in-form striker arrives at Craven Cottage anytime soon.
