West Ham United closely monitoring Santiago Gimenez

West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing 22-year-old Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez from Feyeboord.

Santiago Gimenez has established himself as one of the finest young strikers in Europe, and his performances have attracted the attention of West Ham United, according to a report from The Times.

West Ham United Need a Striker

It is no secret that West Ham need to bring in attacking reinforcements, and Gimenez would be a solid acquisition for them. He helped Feyenoord win the Eredivisie title last season, and he has been in phenomenal form this season as well, scoring 20 goals across all competitions.

A move to the Premier League will be a tempting proposition for him, and he will want to test himself at the highest level. However, it will be interesting to see if he is keen on a move to West Ham. He has been linked with bigger clubs in recent weeks, and he will probably want to join the club capable of winning major trophies.

West Ham currently have Michail Antonio and Danny Ings as their striking options. While Antonio is past his peak, Ings has not been available consistently because of injury problems. In addition, Ings has been linked with an exit, with Crystal Palace showing interest in him.

West Ham will have to bring in an upgrade if they want to win trophies in the coming seasons and climb further up the table. Santiago Gimenez would be a major coup for them, and it remains to be seen whether they can convince the player to join them.

Will Santiago Gimenez Be the Solution to West Ham’s Goalscoring Woes?

In addition, Feyenoord are likely to demand the premium for their prized asset as well. He is one of the best young strikers in Europe and he is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition. It will be interesting to see if West Ham are prepared to break the bank for him.

West Ham won the UEFA Europa Conference League last year, and they will want to compete in Europe every year. They need more quality in the side in order to push for Europa League qualification every season.

The Hammers have an impressive attacking/creative unit comprising of Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta and James Ward-Prowse. A quality finisher like Gimenez would be the final piece of the puzzle for them.
