Real Madrid will be ready to cough up €30 million to sign 20-year-old highly-rated Spaniard Juanlu Sanchez from Sevilla.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Juanlu Sanchez is a top target for Real Madrid ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window. The Merengues view the highly-rated Spaniard as an option to bolster the right-back berth. And they are willing to pay €30 million to land the young Sevilla defender.
The Rise of Juanlu Sanchez
Juanlu Sanchez has been with Sevilla since 2015, rising through the ranks at the Andalusian club in the last eight and a half years. The 20-year-old full-back made his first-team debut in December 2021 but had to wait nearly two more years to establish a foothold in the senior squad.
The Spaniard has featured regularly for Sevilla thus far in the 2023/24 season, even though he is not an undisputed first-choice starter. Nonetheless, the youngster has chipped in with three assists in 20 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, Juanlu’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of many high–profile clubs, including Real Madrid.
Real Madrid Keen on Signing Juanlu Sanchez
Real Madrid’s interest in Juanlu Sanchez is understandable, considering the advancing age of Dani Carvajal. The veteran full-back is on the wrong side of 30 and in the twilight of his glittering career. In addition, Carvajal has seen his performance levels drop in the last few seasons due to his recent fitness issues.
Meanwhile, Lucas Vazquez is best utilised as a backup right-back, while Nacho is in the final year of his Real Madrid contract. So, it behoves Los Blancos to invest in a young right-back who can learn the ropes from Carvajal before taking over as the first-choice right-back. Juanlu Sanchez has thus emerged as a viable target.
Recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid recently approached Sevilla to discuss a move for the highly-rated 20-year-old Spaniard. And Fichajes has suggested that the Merengues are willing to fork out €30 million to secure Juanlu’s services this year.
It is unclear if a bid worth around €30 million will do the trick and help Real Madrid secure Juanlu’s signature. For now, an offer from Los Blancos is on the cards as the Spanish giants look to bolster their right-back berth.
