Arsenal have no intention to sell Jakub Kiwior in January and have rebuffed an enquiry from Serie A giants AC Milan for the Polish defender.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, AC Milan have seen an enquiry for Jakub Kiwior rebuffed by Arsenal ahead of the January transfer window. The Gunners have no intention of selling the Polish defender next month, as Mikel Arteta does not want to interfere with the current squad.
Arsenal in the January Transfer Window: What They Need
Arsenal could get active in the January transfer window, with Mikel Arteta needing some reinforcements to strengthen his squad. There are a few requirements, such as a central midfielder and another defender with versatile qualities who can occupy several positions in the backline.
The Gunners might not have touched the defensive reinforcement part had they not lost Jurrien Timber very early in the campaign. They have manoeuvred through without massive depth in their defensive ranks, as Arteta has relied on his available stars.
Arsenal also find themselves in a good position in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League. They will face FC Porto in the knockout rounds while ensuring they went top of the league standings with a victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Regarding the current squad, Arteta seems reluctant to sell any of his players. The Spanish manager would like additions but without any significant sales. For this reason, they have rebuffed an approach from AC Milan for Jakub Kiwior.
What Does the Future Have in Store for Jakub Kiwior?
The Polish defender has not cemented a place since joining the club last January for €25 million from Spezia. Some rumours pointed at Arsenal’s interest in Liverpool target Jorrel Hato, who has a profile that suits what Arteta needs, which fueled rumours of Kiwior’s imminent departure next month.
AC Milan had reportedly held talks with Kiwior’s representatives to determine if a move could materialise. Arteta has no problem with the Pole, and the €25 million defender appears happy at the club despite his reduced role as a deputy.
In any case, Arsenal would have demanded a premium fee from suitors, as they want at least the €25 million they invested in the Polish defender. Milan’s ideas are unknown, but they need a new centre-back to strengthen their depleted backline.
A move for Kiwior would have made sense, considering the defender knows Serie A all too well. But at this point, Arsenal are reluctant to sell, meaning the Pole will remain at the club until summer.
