A host of Premier League sides chasing Giorgi Mamardashvilli could accelerate the pursuit as Valencia might sell their goalkeeper.
According to Fichajes, Valencia might sell some of their top stars to help balance their financial troubles. One player who could leave Los Che is goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvilli, who has a host of clubs chasing the Georgian. Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham reportedly hold an interest in the stopper.
Giorgi Mamardashvilli has made a name for himself with some tremendous performances for Valencia. The Georgian international remains Los Che’s established No.1 and considered a significant asset by the club. They reportedly had offers in the summer but did not want to sell him then.
Their financial situation could force some players out of the club to balance their books. Mamardashvilli certainly falls into that category. Some stories around the summer indicated Valencia wanted a massive fee to part ways. That might remain the case when the January window opens.
Chelsea have retained an interest, as they still have doubts about Robert Sanchez’s long-term future at the club. Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham are also in the mix for the 23-year-old La Liga ace. As things stand, a January move to the Premier League looms large.
Manchester United have links to Mike Maignan, which stemmed from Andre Onana’s performances. Erik ten Hag would revisit the situation by the end of December. As things stand, there are other areas of the squad needing reinforcements other than the post between the sticks.
The same goes for Tottenham, who may not need a new keeper. Gugliemo Vicario has performed well since his summer move from Empoli. The Italian has looked at home after replacing Hugo Lloris, but Spurs will keep their eyes open for Mamardashvilli.
Newcastle United could emerge as the most likely suitor for the 23-year-old La Liga ace in January, as they desperately need a new keeper. Nick Pope’s long-term injury puts things into perspective. David De Gea remains linked with a move, while they also hold an interest in Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale.
Valencia may not want to sell him, but their situation could force their hand in January. Mamardashvilli will likely open his doors to a Premier League move, which remains the case with most players right now.
