Real Madrid will only pursue Denzel Dumfries if he does not sign new Inter Milan deal

Real Madrid have been linked with the move for 27-year-old Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries, a target for Chelsea.

Denzel Dumfries has done quite well for the Italian club, and his performances have attracted the attention of clubs like Real Madrid and Chelsea. A report from Fichajes has claimed that the Merengues will only make a move for the 27-year-old if he does not sign a new contract with Inter Milan.

Real Madrid need to sign a quality right-back soon, especially with Dani Carvajal approaching his twilight years. They will need to replace him adequately, and the 27-year-old defender should prove to be a quality acquisition. Dumfries has been linked with a move to the Premier League as well, and it remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.

Apparently, Chelsea are keeping tabs on the player as well. The Blues have Reece James and Malo Gusto at their disposal, but they want more quality in the squad. The 27-year-old Dutch international will not want to sit on the bench at a big club, and he needs to join an outfit where he will get regular game time.

So, a move to Real Madrid might be ideal for him. He is unlikely to start regularly ahead of James at Stanford Bridge. There have been rumours that Dumfries could look to sign a new contract with Inter Milan soon, and Real Madrid will be waiting with bated breath to find out what happens in the coming months. The Spanish giants are unlikely to move for Dumfries if he signs a new deal.

The 27-year-old Chelsea target will want to compete at the highest level and win major trophies. Real Madrid have a proven track record of doing so, and the opportunity to play for them will be tempting for any player. Real Madrid can offer him the platform to showcase his qualities at the highest level.

The Spanish outfit will also give him the platform to perform in the UEFA Champions League on a consistent basis. Chelsea failed to secure Champions League qualification last season, and they have had a mediocre start this term as well. It will be interesting to see if they can finish in the top four this term.
