Manchester United have entered the race for the signature of the 18-year-old Real Betis winger Assane Diao.
According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester United are keen on bolstering their attack and have their eyes set on Assane Diao. The teenage sensation has put in quite a few impressive performances of late for La Liga club Real Betis, and he is on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Diao has been at Real Betis since the summer of 2021. He has come up the ranks at some pace, and the 18-year-old has been recently incorporated into their first team. He already has five appearances for the first team and has found the back of the net thrice.
The Spanish youth international has already made a name for himself at the senior level. And, he is expected to play a big part in the 2023/24 season. Diao’s impressive rise, and his recent performances have attracted a lot of attention.
Manchester United are one of the clubs that are keen on having him in their ranks. The Red Devils have recently entered the race for his services and are expected to push hard for him. Erik ten Hag’s team have struggled in the ongoing season. They have quite a few issues going on behind the scenes. And, the Red Devils do need reinforcement to bring things back on track.
Jadon Sancho has been dropped from their first team following his rift with their manager. And, he will most likely be sold in the near future. As a result, ten Hag needs reinforcement in attack. The Dutch manager wants to sign someone who can help them in the short as well as long term. And, the 18-year-old seems to be a great fit for the club.
Diao’s current contract with the Spanish club runs until the summer of 2027. But he is expected to move to a bigger club in 2024. According to the report, there is a termination clause of around €30 million in his contract, which seems to be a bargain price given the kind of potential the Spain Under-21 star has.
The Red Devils have the financial strength to pull off such a transfer, and they are in desperate need of attacking reinforcement. However, it won’t be easy as there are other clubs keen on signing the Real Betis winger who can feature on both flanks.
