Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta slammed Romelu Lukaku for creating controversy and urged the forward to move on.
Among the list of controversial players, Romelu Lukaku will find his name in the top five among many other notable stars. The Belgian has been speaking to the press during the international break and vowed to expose the truth behind the scenes with the transfer saga involving Inter Milan.
The Belgian claimed it would ‘shock’ his fans to know the truth. Inter Milan were interested in re-signing Lukaku on a permanent deal this time despite an underwhelming loan spell in the previous campaign. Yet, things went differently than planned, as many factors prevented a transfer.
Amid Lukaku coming out and suggesting he would expose the truth, Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has slammed the 30-year-old Chelsea star for his controversial remarks. In his own words, that appeared on 90 Min, the Italian CEO insisted it’s time for the Belgian to move on from what happened in the past.
Marotta said, “For people like me who have experienced all sorts of situations, there’s nothing to be afraid of. “In football, the God of money reigns supreme, but now all that is in the past.”

“When you have a relationship based on trust, it can turn into mistrust. But also disappointment as well. It’s part of sport, a rich sport where money is king. Lukaku is part of our recent past. I look to the future, which is the most important thing.”
“[Lukaku] is free to say what he wants. But I don’t understand why he says things like that.”
“Inter’s decision to bring him in doesn’t just depend on one single incident. It’s based on a whole relationship of gratitude and respect. I don’t see why he should create controversy.”
Inter Milan appeared the favourites to sign the 30-year-old Chelsea star but pulled out of the race after knowledge about Lukaku’s talks with Juventus. The San Siro outfit did not like the player’s position as they worked hard to sign the Belgian.
Inter believed Lukaku held concrete talks with Juventus behind their back and were no longer interested in pursuing the deal for the 30-year-old Chelsea star. Lukaku did not join the Turin giants either and instead ended up at Roma on a season-long loan deal.
Chelsea are already exploring a way to deal with Roma for a permanent transfer and could look to involve former striker Tammy Abraham as a part. As for the Lukaku-Inter Milan issue, as Marotta said, it’s a thing of the past, and the striker must move on.
As for Lukaku, his future remains on uncertain terms beyond the current season. He has had a wonderful start under Jose Mourinho at Roma. Still, the Italian side may not be able to sign him permanently next season, but Chelsea will actively look to sell the Belgian.
