Chelsea hold advantage in the race for Habib Diarra

Chelsea hold an advantage in their pursuit of the 19-year-old RC Strasbourg attacking midfielder Habib Diarra.

According to Calciomercato via SportWitness, Chelsea are keen on having Habib Diarra in their ranks. The 19-year-old sensation has been doing wonders for RC Strasbourg in Ligue 1 and the Blues are looking to bring him to Stamford Bridge in the near future.

Diarra joined the French club back in 2018. He came through the ranks at the club and made it to their first team ahead of last season. The French youth international has already featured in 41 matches for Strasbourg and has even contributed towards eight goals.

In the ongoing season, he has featured in seven matches and has contributed towards two goals. The 19-year-old’s impressive performances over the last 18 months have attracted a lot of attention. Meanwhile, Strasbourg are well aware of the situation and are looking to offer him a new deal.

His current contract runs until the summer of 2027. But, the French club are still keen on offering him a new contract because they want to ensure they get the best possible price for the teenage sensation.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are one of the clubs interested in his services. Ever since Todd Boehly took charge of the club, the Blues have spent millions on new signings. Their focus has been on signing young players with huge potential.

They have been scouting the French youth international for a while now and feel he could be a great fit for their project. The report suggests that Strasbourg won’t let him leave in the winter. As a result, Chelsea will have to wait until the summer to sign him.

While there is interest from Juventus as well, the Blues have a huge advantage in their pursuit of the 19-year-old. Chelsea’s owner Todd Boehly also holds power at Strasbourg. As a result, if the Blues are desperate to have him in their ranks, they won’t face much trouble.

Despite the interest from the Old Lady and their pull, the London-based club might end up winning this race thanks to their owner.
