Saudi Pro League clubs eyeing Jorginho summer swoop

The Saudi Pro League could eye Jorginho ahead of the January transfer window, with the midfielder’s future at Arsenal threading on uncertain terms.

According to Fichajes, Jorginho is on the list of potential Premier League players that the Saudi Pro League would like to sign in January. The cultured Arsenal midfielder remains on the periphery of Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans and might consider his options when the window opens next.

Arsenal signed Jorginho to add depth to their squad in the midst of a title race, and the move worked out well for all parties. The Italian international was able to provide Mikel Arteta with a different option in the middle and allow to offset the loss of Thomas Partey, who has had his struggles with niggling injuries.

As the new season began, Arsenal had already reinforced their midfield with the signing of Declan Rice, which could have spelt the end for one of Jorginho and Partey. Instead, both remained with the Gunners despite the latter attracting plenty of interest.

Arteta considers Partey an important part of this Arsenal side and has relied on the Ghanaian international since the campaign began. As for Jorginho, he has played the deputy role even in Partey’s absence for over a month with a muscle injury.

With the Ghanaian midfielder now back in the squad, Jorginho could expect less game time as the season progresses. His contract also expires next summer, which may open the door for a January move away from the club. The cultured Arsenal midfielder is already thinking about a departure and will have several options on the table.

Fenerbahce could return with an approach in January, and they were among those keen to take the Italian in the summer. As their window lasted longer than their European counterparts, Jorginho could have moved had the transfer suited all parties.

Barcelona and Juventus are also in the mix, as the continental giants could see the value in signing the experienced midfielder. Now, Saudi Arabian clubs are keen to take the Arsenal star to the Middle East as he features on their list of potential targets from the Premier League.

Anthony Martial, Thiago Silva and Anthony Martial are also part of this shortlist, as they are seen as value-for-money signings. Jorginho might see what offers come in and could consider if it suits his career. The midfielder still has it in him to perform at the highest level and will likely make an informed choice.

The Saudi Pro League has lofty ambitions and wants to improve the standard of football in the country with some notable signings. They have lured in many top names since the summer window and will continue on their offensive when the January market opens.
