Valencia will not entertain any offers for Javi Guerra, whose release clause is £87 million, with Manchester United and Newcastle United keen.
In an interview with Daily Mail, Valencia’s sporting director, Miguel Angel Corona, insisted that Javi Guerra is not for sale. The Spanish midfield sensation has a release clause worth £87 million in his contract. Meanwhile, the youngster has been a target for Premier League bigwigs like Manchester United and Newcastle United.
Corona said, “We are fully aware that we have a player with enormous potential for the future and the ability to perform at a good level now. That is why the club have decisively moved him up to the first team in recent months. It is not in our plans to sell him to any club.”
“Our future plans involve continuing to give him the appropriate condition so that he is able to develop his full potential under Ruben Baraja, become an important player and continue to build a Valencia team of the immediate future around players like him.”
Javi Guerra is one of the best young midfielders in his homeland. He spent his formative years in the Valencian Community, rising through the ranks at Villarreal before graduating from Valencia’s youth division. The Spaniard made his first-team debut for Los Che as an 18-year-old in January 2022.
Since then, the 20-year-old has come leaps and bounds, establishing himself as a regular in the Valencia first team. Guerra has turned out eight times thus far this season, chipping in with three goals and one assist. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of Manchester United and Newcastle.
Manchester United bolstered the midfield unit by signing Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount in the summer transfer window. But with Christian Eriksen on the wrong side of 30 and Scott McTominay facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford, the Red Devils need a new midfielder. Guerra has thus emerged as a viable target for Manchester United.
The 20-year-old has a release clause of £87 million, which should not pose a problem for Newcastle United. The Magpies are also keen on the midfielder as they look to add more steel to their midfield. But with Valencia adamant about not selling the Spaniard, Manchester United and Newcastle United need to set their sights elsewhere for a new midfielder.
